2001 Ellie Hartsock

"Ellie is the kind of person everyone wants for a friend," says longtime friend and colleague Mary T. Olson, VP of marketing and training, Delta Employees Credit Union in Atlanta. Hartsock, the recently retired VP of marketing and business development for Lockheed Georgia Employees' Federal Credit Union in Marietta was a class act - quiet, extremely professional, and able to accomplish a lot with a limited budget, according to Olson.

During her 14 years with Lockheed Georgia Employees' FCU, Hartsock played an integral role in the $400 million asset credit union's growth to 85,000 members, including extending membership to more than 200 groups. She also developed the credit union's first formal marketing, sales, and educational programs for members, employees, directors, and volunteer committee members.

As chair of CUNA Marketing Council's education subcommittee, Hartsock was largely responsible for revising and upgrading the CUNA Marketing Management Schools curriculum.

One of Hartsock's greatest honors is an award from Georgia Credit Union Affiliates for her leadership in the formation of Georgia's legislative Grassroots Influence Teams (GRIT) in 1997 and 1998, which worked to preserve the structure of credit unions.
