Member Spotlight: Allison Anderson
Allison is vice president of marketing and network administration for Clinchfield Federal Credit Union in Tennessee. She was born and raised in Johnson City and currently works and attends church in Unicoi County. She received her bachelor's degree in business administration in 1993 from East Tennessee State University . “When I decided to make a career change, I was 31 years old, recently-divorced with two young children, and a true newcomer to the credit union industry,” says Allison. “I had been in sales and human resources and was used to meeting quotas and conducting endless job interviews! What a refreshing change to come to the credit union!” Biggest challenge in 2007 Converting fearful, non-Internet users to confident e-users! It is a slow process, but very necessary to get our members positioned for tomorrow! Best advice Always listen to the older employees at the credit union. They have been doing this a lot longer than some of us have! Greatest benefit of Council membership Energetic, new ideas from other Council members. It's great to not be forced to re-invent the wheel. I love reading the many fantastic responses to issues on the Listserv! It is such an easy tool to use, and I feel confident that other marketers in our industry can provide some of the best answers! Best part of my job The environment in which I work! Even when stressful days surface (and trust me, they do), my co-workers and members in and out of the credit union make it worth getting through. Hardest part of my job I have many different responsibilities, all of which are very important and need to be completed! Success story Conversion coordinator for a very difficult data processor conversion! Had to be sure to address new problems without letting other regular problems slip through the cracks. What a great lesson on how to prioritize. Hobbies and interests I love to swim, talk long walks with my iPod too loud, and play my piano. People would be most surprised to learn that I . . . Love to ride on the back of a Harley! (My friends once said that no matter how much leather I had on, I still looked like a business woman!) Recent book The latest Harry Potter , of course! Life goal not yet accomplished Visiting Paris with the love of my life. Something that always makes me laugh My children can ALWAYS make me laugh—just by being themselves! They have both been blessed with outgoing personalities and great big smiles! If I had an extra hour in the day . . . I would do absolutely nothing—life is going by tooooooo fast.
