Member Spotlight: Bryan London
“Initially, he was going to retire in a month or two, but decided to stay on another six months,” says Bryan . “So I'd work with him for a few hours every day, learning the credit union's marketing techniques, and spend the other hours of my day working on VISA collections, which was quite an experience! I truly believe that we, as credit union marketers, have one of the greatest jobs a person can have.” A native Californian, Bryan considers Los Angeles home. “I couldn't imagine living anywhere else,” he says. “My wife Susan and our two children live in the Glendora area, where my daily commute to work is about 10 minutes each way. This is certainly the best way to beat the LA traffic!” Biggest challenge Retaining and growing shares. We continually are seeking ways, and adjusting rates, to gather in new funds. I must say we are doing well on retention, as our monthly average retention rate is over 82%. Best advice Stay within budget (a message I hear routinely from my CFO) Greatest benefit of Council membership The List serve is the greatest! This is a totally awesome way to gain new ideas and knowledge from my marketing peers. However, the marketing conference does run a close second. Best part of my job Watching my marketing staff grow and mature as our promotions and ideas just keep getting better. Hardest part of my job Trying to become a world-class multi-tasker! Success story Being slightly under budget for the month of June. Hobbies and interests Playing sports, watching sports, playing as much golf as I can, and hanging out with my family. People would be surprised to learn that . . . I love hard rock/heavy metal music. Favorite bands are Bon Jovi, Van Halen, and RUSH, to name just a few. Recent book Phil Jackson's The Last Season: A Team in Search of Its Soul. Life goal not yet accomplished Owning a BMW. Something that always makes me laugh Watching reruns of the TV show M*A*S*H.
