Member Spotlight: Michelle Bailey

Michelle Bailey is marketing manager for Health Facilities Federal Credit Union in South Carolina. She was born in Rochester, New York and moved to California as a teenager, where she “met the love of my life and moved to good old Florence, South Carolina about nine years ago,” she says. Her background includes advertising and marketing in the television and newspaper industries; HFFCU is her first exposure to the credit union movement.

As a wife and mother of one son, Austin, Michelle enjoys being an active soccer mom and an active community member, serving as the marketing chair for the local Relay for Life, a cancer fundraiser. “As a cancer survivor myself,” she adds, “working with such a group is very meaningful to me and is a great way for me to give back to others.”

Biggest challenge

At this point, just getting the flow of campaigns to mesh with the wants of the members.

Best advice

Let the creative juices flow and everything else will fall into place.

Greatest benefit of Council membership

Everyone doesn't think the same way, so getting new, fresh ideas that you can play with is great. I love having the List serve and have actually met some really nice "friends" I can call when I need help learning all the ways of CUNA.

Best part of my job

The creative freedom that my CEO allows (he figures I am the expert!).

Hardest part of my job

Never enough money!

Hobbies and interests

As a soccer mom I have little time for anything besides family. When I do, I enjoy spending time at the beach or working on an occasional organizational project—let's hear it for plastic storage!

People would be most surprised to learn that I . . .

Minored in music and used to sing in a group.

Life goal not yet accomplished

To continue my Relay for Life goals and help the fight against cancer!

Something that always makes me laugh

People who think they are funny.

If I had an extra hour in the day . . .

I'd be so confused I wouldn't know where to start! Maybe start with some exercise . . .
