Member Spotlight: Cammie Morrow
Cammie Morrow is marketing and business development director for Hopewell Federal Credit Union in Heath, Ohio. She was born in Richmond, Virginia and was raised there until 1989, when she moved to Martinsville, Virginia. Her first career was in radio and television as an on-air talent, news anchor, and producer. She later worked for The Longaberger Company, where she worked as “ television producer, event planner, and writer for marketing their products and motivational sales articles that were distributed to their 70 thousand sales consultants,” she says. “I later became the marketing director for a local hospital and then moved to the credit union.” Cammie and her husband have two children—Joshua, 6, and Spencer, 16 months. She has also won four Telly awards for exceptional reporting in non-broadcast television. Biggest challenge For me, the current challenge is re-connecting with our corporate boosters and getting them re-energized about their employees becoming members of the credit union. Best advice Never be afraid of change and rocking the boat a little. If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got. So think outside the box. Greatest benefit of Council membership Networking with other marketers. I marked my one-year anniversary with the credit union in February this year. The industry is still new to me and my fellow marketers have welcomed me with open arms. Best part of my job Meeting members—I'm a people person and event planning is just something I love! Hardest part of my job It's a very left-brain, right-brain atmosphere and, being the "creative" guru, it's sometimes a struggle communicating with very analytical folks. Success story Re-designing our website and creating a blog that has really increased our number of online users and drawn more visitors to our website. Biggest misconception about my job That I just sit and order fun giveaways from catalogs all day. Hobbies and interests I am still a voice-over talent for a local radio station so I write commercials and voice them once a week. Writing children's books. Recent book I'm a dork— Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows —I just love JK Rowling's work. Life goal not yet accomplished To have my books published with a major publisher. Something that always makes me laugh My kids and crazy stuff on YouTube. Favorite quote "Understand that change begins with the individual" (Michael Stipe). What is in my iPod or Mp3 player? Jason Mraz. If you could spend a day with anyone . . . It would be Larry Page, one of the founders of Google. I'd like to pick his brain about where he came up with the concept and what he thinks of how it's taken off and how huge it is today. How I would explain the credit union difference to a prospective new member I think the best way is to compare our fees side by side—I think it speaks volumes. CommentsPowered by Comment Script
