New Session Added on “Leveraging Your Credit Union's Position in the Current Economic Climate” to CUNA Marketing & BD Council Conference

Credit unions can discuss leveraging the opportunities afforded to them in this current economic climate. One opportunity is the “Move Your Money,” the recent Huffington Post campaign, in a newly added session to the 2010 CUNA Marketing and Business Development Council (CMBDC) Conference, March 21-24 in Washington, D.C. The town hall-style session will also cover the recent bank backlash, actions credit unions are taking to grow and maintain members, plus the opportunity for significant changes in public policy that provide credit unions with added potential.

“Credit unions have been given an unprecedented opportunity in today's economic climate. Banks have the lowest trust levels and credit unions have very high trust levels. How can credit union's leverage this advantage?” asks Anne Legg, chair of the CMBDC and vice president of marketing for Cabrillo CU in San Diego, Calif. “This session is essential - a get-together of hundreds that includes no holds-barred discussion, dialogue and good old fashioned brain storming and idea-sharing.”

Helping lead the discussion will be:

  • Mark Wolf, senior vice president of communications, Credit Union National Association (CUNA);
  • Richard Gose, senior vice president of political affairs, CUNA; and
  • Carol Payne, vice president of communications & marketing, California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues

Also added to the agenda immediately following the “Leveraging the credit union advantage” session is a “Washington Insider's Reception.” Attendees can meet and hear from the leaders who deal with Congress, the Administration and NCUA.

“The reception is a great networking opportunity to connect with peers, industry providers and DC insiders,” said Legg. “You'll have a chance to connect, discuss ideas presented earlier, share insights and find out the latest from the Hill.”
