Member Spotlight: Brynn Ammon

Brynn Ammon was born in Erie, Pennsylvania and attended college at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. After she graduated she moved back to Erie and sold print supplies for a national printer, where she worked closely with several customers that were credit unions.

“Later I moved to California and AltaOne Federal Credit Union was looking for a marketing supervisor,” says Brynn. “I spent two years at AltaOne and moved to a marketing manager position at Edwards Federal Credit Union in Lancaster, California.”

She worked at Edwards for about two years before the U.S. Navy transferred her husband to Jacksonville, where she hired on with Seaboard Credit Union as director of marketing and business development.

“I am working on my MBA at Jacksonville University and want to stay in the credit union industry,” says Brynn.

Biggest challenge for 2006

We are merging in a small credit union that is located in another state six hours away. I have been tasked with chairing the merger committee, so it is taking a lot of time away from the rest of the marketing and business development duties.

Best piece of MBD advice

The more involved you are with other functional areas of the credit union, the better your campaigns will run. If the front line buys in, you’re campaigns will always be successful.

Greatest benefit from being a member of the council

The Listserv is a lifesaver. I’ve been a council member for two and a half years and use the Listserv religiously.

Best part of your job

I really enjoy working closely with other functional areas of the credit union in accomplishing goals. It is always rewarding for me to see the end result.

Hardest part of your job

Because we are a smaller credit union ($110 million), my budget is limited and it’s just me and a business development rep, so I am constantly being pulled in multiple directions.

Best MBD success story

We did a fixed-rate home equity loan promotion at the beginning of 2006 that resulted in 57 new home equities for a total of $2.7 million in just three months.

Hobbies/interests

Walking my dogs, spending time with my husband, fishing, camping, reading, and watching sporting events. But when you’re working on your master’s degree, there is no time for hobbies!
